Digital and online marketing is clearly a subset of the marketing strategies you might focus on to help grow your business. And Business growth is in itself one of the 7 Big Questions about how to build a beautiful business and life. But it is worth focusing on digital marketing specifically, because it has become such an enormously important component of marketing and comprises such a wide variety of experts and specialty knowledge.

From social media experts to digital engagement consultants, web developers, SEO experts, copy writers and other content providers to influencers and specialised “user experience” consultants.

The list is almost endless and constantly changing along with emerging technology, such as artificial intelligence, voice search, chatbots, virtual reality, drones, and progressive web apps.

You could also easily argue that the core principles of marketing haven’t changed, but that we’ve simply got a bunch of new tools to use. At one level that’s true, but on other levels, things have changed drastically.

The reality is, often, your physical presence or locality doesn’t even matter anymore. If you want to be taken seriously today, online engagement across all mediums and channels must be at the heart of your marketing strategy.
